2025년 인문사회 융합인재양성 컨소시업 업무협약식
Incheon National University (President Jong-Tae Park) signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) on Thursday, the 10th, with Sogang University, Daegu University, Sangji University, and Pukyong National University, forming a five-university consortium to promote a project focused on cultivating convergence talent in the humanities and social sciences for building an inclusive society capable of overcoming various conflicts.
The signing ceremony was attended by the presidents of the five consortium universities, senior administrators, project directors, faculty members, and staff. All parties pledged to cooperate closely in establishing a convergence education system rooted in the humanities and social sciences, and to jointly foster talent equipped with problem-solving capabilities for addressing social challenges.
The consortium plans to establish a “School of Inclusive Society Convergence Studies” (tentative name), offering a joint curriculum that enables students to pursue double or interdisciplinary majors. Notably, a 4+1 linked bachelor’s-master’s program will be implemented to provide students with flexible and in-depth educational opportunities by enhancing the connection between undergraduate and graduate studies.
In addition, the participating universities will share resources and infrastructure, and establish a mutual credit recognition system to expand student choice in learning. The consortium will also focus on joint lectures, collaborative research, and university-industry cooperation, aiming to generate tangible outcomes in the field of humanities and social sciences.
This consortium is expected to serve as more than a partnership among universities—it is envisioned as a shared commitment to the social responsibility of nurturing talent that embodies the values of inclusion and coexistence.
Since 2023, the Ministry of Education and the National Research Foundation of Korea have been promoting the “Humanities and Social Sciences Convergence Talent Development Project,” which aims to break down institutional barriers between universities and expand convergence education systems centered on the humanities and social sciences. This agreement aligns with that national initiative and is anticipated to become a launching pad for the participating universities to take the lead in shaping the future of humanities and social science education.
Prof. Wooseok Ok (Department of International Trade, Incheon National University), who serves as the general director of the consortium, remarked, “We plan to develop a convergence curriculum that considers various levels and focuses of study, and to flexibly revise academic systems to allow students to select diverse courses and develop their careers regardless of their major.”
